Homer, Alaska is five hours south of Anchorage at the "End of the Road". A beautiful and dramatic location, rich with marine wildlife, a paradise for wildlife and outdoor enthusiasts. The Loon Lake Wilderness Lodge is located in Bear Cove at the head of Kachemak Bay, 16 miles north of downtown Homer. The adventure begins with a 40 minute water taxi ride to the head of the bay. Whales, sea otters, sea lions, harbor seals, and a variety of seabirds are commonly seen along the way. You will be dropped in Bear Cove at the Loon Lake trailhead. From there, you will have a 20 minute hike up to Loon Lake. The "Loon Nest" cabin is accessible by canoes available for you at the top of the trail. The cabin is lakefront with a deck overlooking the lake and the shores of Kachemak Bay, with Homer in the distance. The cabin is remote and secluded.
